USERS AND VIRTUAL REFERENCE LIBRARY

DEFINITION: according to the dictionary of the language of the English Academy, " User is the person who is entitled to use one thing ejena with some limitation and reader is reading or has a habit of reading. "

User: due to the constant changes taking reference service there has been a change in the type of user, where we spent a user "traditional" those who were close to a unit of information in person to make inquiries. Currently we have a new type of users "remote or virtual" are those that perform the requests and retrieve information through online connection and they are not physically. In the same way users can be defined into two groups: user s potential, which are those who need information but are not aware of and it real users that require information are aware of their needs and use appropriate units and resources available to conduct information retrieval.

Because applications for virtual user information in a large percentage is made through an email, chat, email or Web form preset the reference librarian "librarian" can be difficult to perceive the real needs and provide appropriate information and that do not have the opportunity to interview the user, to help identify those needs more specific and concrete in order to obtain better results in that the reference information you provide to the user. therefore it is necessary to create and implement new strategies to enable the user to have the information necessary, which feasibly demanded more attention and time in a virtual reference librarian.

Therefore, librarian should be aware that a fundamental technique in the reference work is the interview. Have attitudes to begin a dialogue with the remote user virtual, and can implement an appropriate strategy to be mediated by technology. In summary, currently the Reference have to use technology, intelligence, creativity, to continue serving the users face, which are becoming more demanding, while providing services to remote users.
